IS IT WORTH IT?

Image
After reading the pathetic story of University of Ibadan graduate that committed suicide days ago, it made me wonder if committing suicide truly worth it? The guy dropped a note that says, "He has suffered enough and regrets been a Nigerian." The fact is that the country is truly in mess right now. Things are truly tough not even for him that committed suicide alone, but for most of us. If I begins to share my stories with you, you will even pity me. For we all have our secret pains. He committed suicide because he can't cope with the suffering again. He forgot that: - As you are looking for wealth now, somebody is looking for health. He didn't remember that: - Each time you think of not having a car, somebody just died from a car crash. - If you are thinking about your health, somebody just died of Coronavirus. - If you are looking for power, many has acquired and used it, and now they are powerless. - Each time a new mansion was built, a new grav...

DON'T RUSH IT

We both graduated in the year 2017 and served in the same year. Surprisingly, when I saw him last year, "he don hammer." He gently parked his new BMW beside me and greeted me wholeheartedly. Tolu is a nice guy, he was so happy to see me and I was happy to see him too. But part of me was ashamed of myself seeing him in his car and looking great while I was still maintaining my trekking method. Seriously, it took me time to get away from the sudden depression that came over me when he departed. I was depressed not because of him but because of my life that is yet to found its place. I'm a church boy, a young writer who is yet to stand before kings and the great men of this world like Wole Soyinka, Emeka Nobis, Eno Sam, Dr. Myles Munroe and host of others that are known with this skills. Yesterday, I heard a shocking news of my life as it was reported that my old friend was arrested by the DSS and accused of fraud and theft. And if found guilty, he may spends the res...

YOU HAVE A GIFT.. SO WHAT?

This was the question I heard some years back from a friend before my service year. We were talking about gifts, talents and how one can get the best out from his God given gift to become exceptional from others. This folk just shook my brain with the question saying: Don't we have many youths who are gifted artists around the globe? Singers that are better than Olamide, Beyonce, Nathaniel Bassey, Frank Edward are in one local place struggling to make it yet they have no one to listen to them. "They have a gift and so what?" "You see, if gift and talent is enough, those guys in the village would have hammered by now." This was his statement to back up the above question. Why am I telling you this? We have lots of people who strongly believe in their gifts and talents. They thought that is enough for them to function well in life. But as it was said by John C. Maxwell in his book, "Talent is never Enough." Talent is not all to become best at wh...

MY BREASTS ARE SAGGING

This was the word of a depressed lady after a long time of waiting without having a man to marry. She said: "I'm getting old and my breasts are sagging. Yet I have no man around me. Will I still get married?" Crazy right! That was a scary word from a depressed lady in her early 40s as I read from my mail before the COVID 19 stay at home order. You see, we have people around who are depressed, down with situations that are too hard to explain. We have men working around looking great, yet insides are pains and griefs. As for me, I am not God or an ordained pastor who can look at a situation and give a perfect solution to end those pains - oh how I wished! But I'm so sure that as we have problems, so we have solutions. As we have a beginning, so we have an end. As we have sadness, so we have happiness. But the problem is how can we find the right answer to our questions? What should we do in the midst of these pains? Perhaps, maybe you've been in that s...

You and your Brand

I went out yesterday flaunting my MASS 7.0  shirt in the city of Ibadan. Then a lady when seeing me smiled and said: "Jesus Geng." I smiled back without bothering to ask questions because I recognized the slogan and she also recognized the brand I was putting on - MASS. Is your brand recognized? I've been seeing folks both online and offline begging people for support to vote in a competition in order to have traffic on their brand or what they represent. Nowadays, lots of these activities are now taken place online where the participants are asking or begging people to like their comments or posts in other to win. Being known online or winning in life is not a days job or all about advertisement. It's about creating and building a brand. Brand is what you represent. It's what the people say anytime your name is mentioned. It's who you are. And when you build your brand, you will get the attention of your audience anytime you need them. For it'...

You have Dominion

The secret to the future is in the past – the beginning. If we desires to enjoy any products, services or anything in life, we must go back to the first of it's kind to know why it was created. This same principle is also applicable to man. If we truly desire to know our advantage and what we are meant to do in life, we must go back to the event that took place when the creator created the first man - Adam. When God created the first man on earth, He put Him in charge of everything and told him to subdue the land and rule over everything in it. God gave Adam an intellect, intent and the will to do and undo everything under him. I couldn't find any words of limitations from the creator to the first man. To the extent that God told Adam about the two specials trees in the garden and left man with choice. Either to obey or to disobey. Now that we have studied the first man, we can see that men are not truly limited. Because we have been giving a mandate to have dominion ov...

You and your thoughts

I was minding my business one beautiful night when I heard a loud sound in my area. The transformer blew up and there was a blackout. My neighbors began to say that there would be no power supply till February. Meaning that we will not have electricity in the area for two months. Some said we were now into another power supply issue at the beginning of the year. Different people said all kind of negative statements because of what they heard and the way the power supply went off. Suprisingly, not even up to twenty minutes the "condemned" power supply returned and all of them who prophesied were speechless. This is exactly how many people live thier lives. Just because of the sound of a threat they hear, many run away and give up their dreams. Many concluded that it's over because of a big blow that happened to them in their business. I've been saying this and I will also say it again: "Life will always test your commitment and patience on anything you d...

Sell your ways through life 2

Late last year, I created a short E-book (PDF file) on how to make money through WhatsApp & I sold it at the rate of #500. To some it was crazy, to some it doesn't make sense & to me it's my way of giving out values to those who needed it. I held a free WhatsApp class, thought the participants what I know & after the class I packaged it as a PDF file & sold it for #500. In December alone I made 8 sales & someone suprisingly rewarded me with #1000 for the PDF. Little abi? Well that's not the point. The point is that whatsoever gifts or skills you have, it is high time for you to let the world  knows about it. It will surely be little at first before becoming great. Just come out. What is your profession? Are you into selling a product or rendering a service? How many people knows that you are into it? Friend, it's time to come out from that cave & let the world knows what you do. The good news is that Social Media has made it s...

Selling your ways through life

While I was in school few years ago, one of the negative philosophy I had then was that I can't sell because I don't like selling. I prefer living a quiet life without asking anyone to give me money. I had a laptop system with me & I can surf the internet so well to get any information that I needed. My writing skill was not that bad then. So I did many things for students free of charge even though I was damn broke. These attitudes went on for many years until my final year at school when I needed money for my final project, departmental fees & the likes of fellowship expenses before leaving the school. Problem came & I needed money. With the help of a close girlfriend, I set up a small computer business in my room & began to type & print documents for students, most especially the final year students projects. This action helped me to solved all my financial crisis at that time. I must confess, I blamed myself for not starting the business earlier...
